How to Use CBD Capsules to Reduce Stress, Anxiety, and Pain

Did you know that 62% of CBD users take it for medical reasons? From pain management to mental health, cannabis has come a long way in the form of CBD.

If you are suffering and want to try a natural supplement like CBD then you have come to the right place.

Read on to find out how CBD capsules may assist with your stress, anxiety, and pain.

What is CBD?

Before discussing CBD capsules info and how they work, you may want to know exactly what you are going to be putting in your body.

CBD is short for Cannabidiol and is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in the Cannabis Sativa plant. There are also two strains of plants that contain CBD: the hemp and marijuana plant.

Supplements with CBD can be extracted from either plant, however, be aware that the marijuana plant will contain higher levels of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), another cannabinoid. THC produces a psychoactive high feeling, whereas CBD does not.

Types of CBD

Since the passing of the Farm Bill Act in 2018, legalizing the production of hemp and removing it as a controlled substance according to the DEA(Drug Enforcement Administration), CBD products have increased in the cannabis market. Why is this important?

It allowed the legal use of cannabis products that contain less than .3% of THC, making the medical benefits of cannabis accessible to states that do not have legal marijuana laws. As production pursued, CBD evolved into three or more variations, including:

  • CBD Isolate
  • CBD Full-spectrum
  • CBD Broad-spectrum
  • CBD Total-spectrum

Each spectrum differs in its cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids contents.

CBD Isolate

This type of CBD contains only CBD, but it can come from either the hemp or marijuana plant. The CBD is extracted from the plant to reduce the amount of THC, however, it also loses the benefits of other components of the plant.

CBD Full-spectrum

A full-spectrum CBD supplement will contain everything from the cannabis plant, including traces of THC. However, to be sold legally as CBD it must contain less than .3% of THC.

CBD Broad-spectrum

Remove the THC from the full-spectrum product and you will have a broad-spectrum CBD. People enjoy this type of CBD if they want the contents of the full plant without worrying that it contains too much THC.

CBD Total-spectrum

A total-spectrum CBD product would need to come only from a hemp plant. This is because it leaves all the components of the plant active in their original form. So, there is no, or little to no, naturally occurring THC, offering peace of mind to users who want a full-plant supplement.

How CBD Works

Now that you know what CBD is you can begin to understand how it can minimize stress by interacting with the natural hormones in your body.

It does so by reacting with the receptors found in the body's Endocannabinoid System. When an imbalance is detected, CBD creates a reaction that distributes hormones like the neurotransmitter serotonin throughout the bloodstream.

Serotonin controls states of mental health. When it is low then depression and anxiety exist and are triggered even more when the stress hormone cortisol is released.

CBD has been known to minimize anxiety by regulating naturally-occurring chemicals, creating a whole-body balance.

Benefits of CBD

Since CBD induces homeostasis, its uses as a health supplement are wide-ranged depending on the person. However, the most common CBD capsules benefits treat:

  • Insomnia
  • Depression
  • Stress and Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • Chronic Pain
  • Schizophrenia
  • Cancer
  • Inflammation
  • Acne

Research on the effects of CBD as a natural pain relief and treatment for mental disorders is still in its infancy. However, research is proving to be positive, especially for PTSD treatment and other social ailments like anxiety and stress.

How to Use CBD

When it comes to taking CBD capsules, the right amount will depend on the person, from weight and age to tolerance level and reason for treatment. Therefore, it is best to start with a minimal dosage of 2.5 mg per Kg of body weight.

Increase your dosage after a week, 5-10mg at a time if you feel little or no effects. However, remember that you may not experience the full benefits for a few weeks, so be patient. It is also best to take CBD twice daily since it will remain in your system for several hours.

For chronic conditions, the maximum about per day could be as high as 1,500 mg, which is considered a very high dose.

Calculating your dosage should be discussed with your doctor, especially if you take other medications. You also want to review the dosage amount of the CBD product.

Capsules are a preferred method since they are a pre-measured, discrete way of taking your CBD.

Possible Side Effects

The side effects of taking CBD are rare and may be due to low-quality products. So, finding the right CBD supplement is essential to avoiding the following:

  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Lethargy
  • Change in weight

Be sure to check the third-party lab tests of each product before you make a purchase. This will ensure that it is free from contaminants like pesticides or heavy metals. You can also confirm the THC levels just to be sure.
