CBD in 2022: The Ultimate Guide
Let’s start with the facts:
CBD is a booming industry. In fact, it’s projected to be a nearly $20 billion industry in just a couple years. That’s almost unthinkable for a product that couldn’t be sold in the United States until 2017. How did these amazing strides happen?
Part of this surge is due to the loads of exciting, promising research that can finally be done on CBD. And part of it is due to people from every background in nearly every industry sharing their stories and positive experiences. AKA – CBD has gone mainstream.
Still, CBD can be pretty confusing topic to those unfamiliar with it. How do you quantify what to expect? How do you know if you’d be a good candidate for CBD?
And finally, is all CBD the same?
For now, let’s start by answering the last question: No, not all CBD is the same. In fact, knowing which type of CBD is best for you is the first step you should take before deciding which one to buy. Today CBD is broken into four categories: CBD Isolate, Broad Spectrum, Full Spectrum, and Total Spectrum CBD.
A QUICK LOOK AT EACH SPECTRUM:
- CBD Isolate: An extracted form of CBD stripped of all other compounds. This is considered “pure” CBD, but experts agree this is the mildest form of CBD. You’ll often find these at gas stations, for example.
- Broad Spectrum CBD: Includes some beneficial compounds with trace amounts of THC being removed. This is certainly a step above CBD Isolate as compounds like CBN and CBC are included that improve CBD’s overall effect.
- Full Spectrum CBD: Includes a more complete range of beneficial compounds, including trace amounts of THC. This was previously considered the closest one could get to “natural CBD”. These are often high-quality products.
- Total Spectrum CBD: The most natural, complete form of CBD available. This involves a special type of strain activation that allows the complete plant profile to be kept, including cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and essential fatty acids.
When considering CBD and different spectrum levels, often the most common question we hear is, “Why do I need all that other stuff when I just want the CBD?”
It’s a great question.
The most common term used to answer this is called the “entourage effect”. It means that when other compounds and ingredients are working together with CBD, the CBD itself is able to act more effectively. Similar to how amino acids help a protein supplement work better.
Or as we like to say: Teamwork makes the dream work.
The higher the spectrum-level, the more support the CBD is given. This produces a more pronounced, impactful effect that most CBD-users prefer.
WHAT TO EXPECT
There’s a lot of noise when it comes to CBD and expectations which make things difficult (and frustrating) for potential customers. Much of this has to do with the sheer volume of reasons people give for how CBD has helped them. There are many!
We’ve found CBD is best compared to meditation or yoga. For one, they’re hard to understand before you’ve really given them a shot. They also involve connecting both body and mind in a productive way. But most importantly, they become more rewarding the more you engage with them.
That being said, we’re just barely scratching the surface! Learn more today about how you can incorporate CBD into your routine.
