Frequently asked questions
Frequently Asked Questions About CBD
WHAT IS CANNABIDIOL (CBD)?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural compound that comes from the leaves, stalks, and flowers of industrial hemp or marijuana cannabis. It is the most widely accepted non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in Cannabis sativa plant. Hemp-based CBD extracts should not be confused with CBD from marijuana, even though they both derive from the same plant – all of our YIPS Total Spectrum CBD products contain CBD extracted from industrial hemp.
IS CBD OIL LEGAL?
Hemp and hemp-derived products are legal to produce, sell, and consume. These products must be derived from industrial hemp containing less than 0.3 percent THC.
YIPS™ is legal for sale and use in the United States, it contains less than 0.3% THC. So yes, it does contain THC, but don't freak out! A little bit of THC contributes to the entourage effect along with all of the other total spectrum goodies found in Yips. Just like how in coffee there are minor compounds that help enhance the good effects of caffeine and lower the negatives - same concept applies here. Nature knows best, and we don't want to mess with that. We ensure our products are always compliant with applicable Federal and State laws, and as such YIPS™ is not available in Idaho & Nebraska due to their state laws.
WHAT ARE CANNABINOIDS AND TERPENES?
Cannabinoids are a class of molecules that work on the endocannabinoid system found in each and everyone of us. There are two kinds of cannabinoids: (1) endocannabinoids - those found in your body naturally (used to regulate a variety of bodily functions) and (2) phytocannabinoids - plant based cannabinoids that are found most abundantly in cannabis. The cannabinoids found in cannabis need activation prior to use but traditional methods of activation destroys the rest of the plant profile (namely terpenes). LACY activates these plant based cannabinoids (with no degradation) while maintaining the whole plant profile as well.
Terpenes are an important component to the overall cannabis experience, not only influencing a strain’s taste and smell but also influencing its effects on the body. Terpenes work in concert to either catalyze or inhibit effects of other compounds within the plant. This entourage effect is the unique and synergistic combination of cannabinoids and terpenes, ultimately producing the unique effects that distinguish one strain of cannabis from another. Over 100 different terpenes have been identified in cannabis. LACY is the first and only system capable of maintaining these vital compounds (and others) throughout the activation process.
WHAT IS THE ENTOURAGE EFFECT?
The Entourage Effect is a mechanism by which compounds present in cannabis which are largely non-psychoactive (terpenes, flavonoids, etc.) by themselves modulate the overall psychoactive effects of the plant. All of the compounds in cannabis (like cannabinoids and terpenes), working in together create the distinct effects of a specific strain of cannabis. LACY™ is the first and only system to preserve the entourage effect of a specific strain all the way through the activation/decarb process.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FEEL THE EFFECTS OF CBD?
Properties of CBD will vary for each individual depending on height, weight, and the quantity of CBD taken. Because there are no intoxicating ingredients with CBD oil, there is no “high” effect; start with small amounts and gradually increase with each use until reaching desired results.
WHAT MAKES HEMP PLANTS DIFFERENT FROM MARIJUANA PLANTS?
Hemp and marijuana come from the same plant family, Cannabis sativa. The main difference between the two is their level of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – the illegal, psychotropic cannabinoid. According to the Agricultural Act of 2014, American legislation describes legal hemp plants as containing less than 0.3 percent THC.
WILL USING CBD OIL SHOW UP ON A DRUG TEST?
It depends on the testing standards of the lab administering your drug test. Most lab tests only search for THC, which is the main psychoactive component of the cannabis plant. Initial “point of care” drug tests can also confuse CBD for THC, resulting in a ‘false positive.’ If this happens to you, insist on more accurate confirmation testing. You can always contact a lab directly to verify exactly what will be tested.
Those of you who have an upcoming drug test may want to avoid Total Spectrum and switch to CBD isolate temporarily (YIPS THC FREE capsules). When in doubt, consult your physician first.
Questions about yips & our cbd products
WHAT IS TOTAL SPECTRUM?
Total Spectrum is what lies beyond “full spectrum”, and can only be preserved from the plant into the final product by our patented Lossless Activation™ process. CBD is only one of many, many active components in Cannabis flowers. Other well-known components include THC, terpenes, flavonoids, and many more. Prominent cannabis clinicians, like Dr. Ethan Russo, have discovered that the potential benefits of a cannabinoid - like CBD or THC - are enhanced when it remains combined with all these other active components. This is called the “entourage effect”, and is important to the future of cannabis-based products. With our patented process, we infuse our products with a larger amount and a wider variety of these other components than any other technology - purposefully - to preserve the strongest potential possible in our finished products.
WILL I GET "HIGH" FROM USING YIPS CBD PRODUCTS?
YIPS products by design are not intended to be psychoactive or get our customers high. YIPS Isolate CBD Products (YIPS THC FREE) do not contain any THC and, therefore, have no psychoactive ingredients.
While our Total Spectrum products contain 1mg to 2mg of THC per serving, this is well below the amount that induces a high-like effect. However, if customers take multiple servings of our Total Spectrum products simultaneously, they could experience psychoactive effects.
As always, YIPS recommends our products be used as indicated. To find the perfect amount of CBD for you and your body, please remember to start with a low amount and increase as needed over 3 - 5 days.

IS THERE AN EXPIRATION DATE FOR CBD PRODUCTS?
With proper storage, quality is maintained up to two years for YIPS products.
WHAT IS LACY?
LACY stands for Lossless Activation Chamber Y- it is a proprietary and patented system that allows for the activation of cannabis without any degradation of original plant profile. It allows you to capture the full effects of any particular strain into a variety of non-smoked forms, resulting in the world’s first truly strain-specific non-smoked cannabis products. LACY makes cannabis a legitimate, effective, and holistic product.
HOW MUCH CBD SHOULD I TAKE?
Because each person’s body structure is unique, it is difficult to set a predetermined measurement that is right for everyone. It is recommended to consult a doctor or health professional to determine an amount right for you.
